Hello 2020 🌟

It’s come to my attention I didn’t post anything in all of 2019!

How that’s possible, I have no idea!

But I’m here! And I’m back! And I’m determined to read as much as I can this year!

This year I opted for 20 books instead of my usual 36 and I’m already ahead! Wasn’t expecting that but it’s a good start!

As far as reading or book blogging I don’t have too many goals this year, just to read. And maybe get back on booktube. I really want to be more active in bookstagramming but man I’m not that creative with my posts and most of my books are a digital copy. And I have no idea where my Kindle or tablets are since we just moved.

I have a few posts I’m excited to put together but blogging with an infant is also hard work on its own lol.

But here’s to falling in love with new reads in 2020 ✨!

What are some of your goals this year?

Hello Spring \o/

I kinda disappeared, didn’t I?

I haven’t read much of anything in March; I’m reading the 3rd book in the ACOTAR series (of course), Three Young Queens (and not sure how I’m liking it tbh) and I just got my elibrary book of Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella.

I’ve also been rearranging my room as well as redoing my bookshelves that my boyfriend gifted me! Right now I’m struggling with what to do/should I move my Fairytale Retelling’s shelf and where to put my Disney shelf. Should I make the shorter bookshelf all Fairytales or the longer one? Ugh. Why is this so hard!

Also the boyfriend and I have been Pop hunting the last few weeks, here are some really great finds we found the other day at Movie Trading Company and we found Hades and Diamond Maleficent at Hot Topic! I’m trying to get into the habit of talking more about our adventures with Pop hunting and trying new places around our area on our blog PXAHXJ.

I also made a new blog to talk about gaming and traveling and food and nerdy stuff over at PLACESANDPEONIES.

Besides that and adventuring and getting ready for Easter (my birthday follows close after… eeep!) I’ve been a bit busy to read. Though I know you make time to read. I’m not going to be mad at myself for falling short on my reading challenge this month, I’ll try to make up for it next month. In May I need to start apartment hunting and getting ready to move so finding time to do things from May to July will be a bit of a gamble.

I hate disappearing for long periods of time! I’ll try and be around a bit more. Especially once I finish these damn shelves haha!

How are you? What are you reading right now?

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Book Quotes

Top Ten Tuesday which The Broke and the Bookish started in 2010 (I remember blogging with them back in my super book blogging days) and has been passed down to That Artsy Reader Girl.

This weeks topic is;

Favorite Book Quotes

Oh gosh.

Pretty much after every review back in the day I’d attach a favorite quote from most of the books I read. Going through all of these is going to suck lmao. But I’ll start with the graphics I made for some cause that’ll just be easier.

These are from A Little Too Far by Lisa Desrochers

a little too far _ quote

a little too far _ quote2

I use to put so much effort into my book reviews lol. I miss having Photoshop 7 around; Photoshop CC and I didn’t get along as well (and we still dont).

The Vines by Christopher Rice

“I would like a…  I would…”
Like a what? he wants to ask her. A Bible? A gun? A Valium?

Ghost House by Alexandra Adornetto

“Sorry if my attire isn’t appropriate.” “On the contrary,” he said.
“Your attire is perfect… and practical.” “Thank you. As you can see, it took weeks of planning.”
“And yet looks so effortless.”

“How do you know that for sure?” I asked, out of genuine curiosity and partly because I wanted to avoid having to respond.
“What do you think love really feels like?”
“I don’t think love is just a feeling,” Joe said. “I think it’s a commitment. Lust is a feeling, that that’s what hits you first. But you have to wait until it passes. Once it’s gone, what are you left with? That’s the real stuff, underneath.” He looked to the ceiling. “When I get married one day, I want to be so committed to my wife that no matter what happens I’ll never leave her. We might fight, she might cheat, we might sleep in separate rooms for a whole year. I but I won’t walk away. So when I tell a girl I love her, I’m going to really mean it.”

Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill

“You laugh in your sleep.”
My head snaps up from my lunch. So he does know.
“I what?”
“Yeah, don’t get excited,” he says, smiling to himself.
“It’s not cute. It’s kind of creepy. More like a cackle. You are whacked, Book Licker.”

Naturally, Charlie by S.L. Scott

“What kind of guy do you take me for? You think I’d nap with one woman then have dinner with another? What a low opinion you must have of me.”

Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan

“Oh, thank God,” Jared said. “I couldn’t work how to hit you and hold on to you at the same time.”
“Hit me?” Kami croaked. “I’ve had enough of this abusive behavior. And we’ve only just met! You’re making a terrible first impression.”
“Where are your clothes?”
“He was doing some — Zen jogging,” she claimed.
Jared flicked her an incredulous glance. “Yes,” he said slowly. “Zen jogging. I wasn’t that many clothes because — that’s part of the process. You’re meant to commune with the elements. Normally, I wouldn’t have worn my jeans, but I put them on because I know the English are modest people.”
“If I beat my head against this desk, maybe this will make sense,” Angela murmured.
“He punched me in the face,” said Ash, who understandably did not seem to find the situation humorous at all. “And then he yelled at me for sleeping with our personal trainer!”
“I was told break up scenes were a good way to distract people,” Jared said with beautiful simplicity.
“Ash looked so surprised,” Holly said. “He had no idea what was going on. He said, ‘I didn’t sleep with our personal trainer! We don’t even have a personal trainer!'”
Holly was laughing. “Jared told her he used to be an exotic dancer in San Francisco.”
“My body is a gift from God,” Jared said gravely. “Except for my hips, which are clearly a gift from the devil.”
I’ll just stop here lol.
I have a ton of quotes highlighted from A Court of Mist and Fury but I haven’t written that review yet so…. *shrug*.
What are some of your favorite book quotes? I’d love to know in the comments! No, seriously. Sometimes a book quote is all it takes for me to read a book lol!

March 2018 Goals

I normally make a goals list for my lifestyle blog and for Bubba and I’s blog. And even though I usually don’t cross everything off these lists, I still like making lists lmao. So I figure why not add on more things to my plate and make a bookish monthly goals list too (since I clearly hate myself lmao)!

Feb was a pretty short month and I know that’s not like… a real excuse to why my reading progress sucked but let’s just… roll with it yeah? When it comes to ‘reading’ and ‘bookish’ goals I don’t have that many so let’s hope in March I can cross more of these things off!

⇢ Fix blog template — ‘officially move in’ if you will
⇢ Read 4 books
⇢ Write 1 type of discussion or ‘other’ post a week
⇢ Get a new bookshelf
⇢ Reorganize bookshelf
⇢ Be more active on Twitter (@readarella if you wanna keep me company)
⇢ Be more active on IG (@readarella the pressures of being a ‘bookstagrammer’ ahhh)

Oh! That list didn’t end up being too long! Whew.

I’m mostly aiming for the bookshelf replacement. Currently I have an IKEA bookshelf that if I push too hard on it’ll literally fall backwards so I can’t put too much on my shelves plus it doesn’t have a backing so yeah, whomp! I want a much more sturdy bookshelf so I can also put some related Funko, Vinylmation and candles on there with its related shelf. Plus I want more than just 4 short shelves, I already have no more room for my books on my Wizard of Oz shelf and there’s barely anything on there!

What’s something you’re aiming to get done in March?

I made a video about this but I’m gonna write about it too; because sometimes I look back at my own blog posts and get pissed I didn’t write anything out, I just slapped a video in its place and I like seeing lists lol.

The books I mention are;

⇢ Red Queen by Victoria Aeyard
⇢ Heartless by Marissa Meyer
⇢ Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris
⇢ Roseblood by AG Howard
⇢ The Crowns of Croswald by D.E. Night
⇢ Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor
⇢ Zenith by Sasha Alsberg & Lindsay Cummings
⇢ A Whole New World by Liz Braswell
⇢ Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore
⇢ Snow & Rose by Emily Martin
⇢ Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao
⇢ Red Winter by Annette Marie
⇢ Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
⇢ The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

⇢ Switched by Amanda Hocking
⇢ Splintered by AG Howard
⇢ The Selection by Kiera Cass

There are a few other books I want to read and that I have listed in my Goodreads TBR which you can find [ HERE ] and the list is always growing and changing as I discover more books. And there’s a few other books I want to re-read and finish the series to. Maybe I’ll do another video/post on those specifically.

Also if you want to see the video I did for this post you can find that [ HERE ].

Pop by, leave a comment! Help a girl out with some views! I’m trying to get back into the habit of filming but it’s just… ugh. It’s always been much easier to blog for me than to make a video. Though they’re fun to watch and if I think of a great one to film I usually am excited to. It’s just finding great topics to talk about! Hopefully as I read more I’ll come up with more topics.

What are some books you’re looking forward to reading this year? Is there anything on your re-read list?

Oh, hai!

Oh gosh, it’s been awhile huh?

I ended up renewing my domain for this blog, I honestly don’t know why… I prefer blogging on WordPress over Blogger these days but it’s just there + I haven’t even updated that blog since Jan of 2017, holy crap… maybe I’ll double post. Who knows. It’s also easier to follow blogs here without having to do the whole Bloglovin thing which I don’t mind but it’s a pain to log in and out of several different accounts, especially when most book blogs I follow now are on WP anyway!

To be fair I haven’t read AS MUCH as I usually did/want to in the last few years, I’ve failed all kinds of reading challenges. I don’t know why now a days it’s hard for me to read — I mean in the passed few years I understand why — maybe it’s just creating that habit again that I need to do.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy reading because I absolutely still do and I enjoy the bookish community. Reading use to be my escape and my stress relief, I guess life got too stressful that I started ditching any hope of relief and just stewed in it instead. Pulling yourself out is the first step!

Maybe I’ll import some of the blog posts from http://www.readarella.com on to here. I know I miss my old old book blog from when I was a bigger book blogger but I don’t go by that name anymore… I know I could had always just changed the name but I also wanted to start over — the struggles! But all my old book reviews from 2009 – 2013 can be found HERE as well.

Let’s see what loves and not-so-loves I’ll find in 2018!
